Learn By Doing
On a weekly basis we plan activities around the children and the sessions are run to what the children want to do (within limits!) so our daily routine can vary. The routine can also change depending on the weather – for instance if it started snowing we would take the children out to experience the change in weather regardless of what was due to take place indoors.
Mission
Mission & Vision
The aim of our pre-school is to ensure that all children enjoy a balanced, fun
and broad curriculum whilst they are with us. We believe all children learn best
during play. Each individual child’s needs and interest are paramount to us and our mission
is to help and support them through these early stage of education and
development.
Let's Talk
Safeguarding
This pre-school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All adults at the pre-school are required to take all welfare concerns seriously and to encourage children and young people to talk to them about anything that worries them. Staff will always act in the best interest of children.
Teresa is our main Designated Safe Guarding Lead within the setting. It is her job to ensure all our policies and procedures are in place to safe guard all that attend
the setting and that staff are aware of the procedures to follow if they feel a child is at risk. Teresa will liase with outside agencies if they are required to ensure that no child is at risk of harm.
We also have other DSLs on site
Heather, Hazel and Diane are also trained in the Pathway to Change Programme. This is a programme to help families that may be struggling but do not need more formal agencies involved in their lives.
We can offer support and guidance of where to get help with many family issues. We may involve other agencies, such as doctors/ health visitors/ teachers if we feel it will be of benefit to the family and the situation that the family find themselves in.
We follow the NSPCC PANTS programme throughout pre-school
No new member of staff or student/volunteer is allowed to spend time with the children supervised or unsupervised until a suitable DBS check has been received. All safe guarding policies can be found in our Policies and Procedure tab.

SENCo
Teresa is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENco).
Teresa has many years experience in this field of expertise and is fully committed to helping all children be the best that they can be. She will work closely with families whose children may have delay in an area of development or who may need just a little one to one care to help them reach their full potential. Please note all Senco Policies and Procedures can be found in our Policies and Procedures tab.
Learning Through Play
The Importance of Play
Play underpins the EYFS. It also underpins learning and all aspects of children’s development. Through play, children develop language skills, their emotions and creativity, social and intellectual skills. For most children their play is natural and spontaneous although some children may need extra help from adults. Play takes place indoors and outdoors and it is in these different environments that children explore and discover their immediate world. It is here they practise new ideas and skills, they take risks, show imagination and solve problems on their own or with others. The role that adults have is crucial. Adults provide time and space and appropriate resources. These might include clothes, boxes, buckets, old blankets that will inspire play and fire children’s imaginations. They observe play and join in when invited, watching and listening before intervening. They value play and provide safe but challenging environments that support and extend learning and development.
